This one threw me.  I just could not get the embedded fonts to show up in a TextArea component.  My long standing dislike of the components in Flash slowed me down this time around. Alas, Peter deHaan at actionscriptexamples posted this and the line below saved my sanity.

myComponent.setStyle("embedFonts", true);

I think what what amazes me about this is for the last couple of years is that I have moved completely away from writing code where I’m passing a string as a property of an Object (constants, accessors, whatever). So much so that I immediately disregarded the aforementioned implementation. Come to find out it’s to my own detriment, especially when styling Flex 3 components with AS3 VS. MXML.
